Description

Product Description This IRWIN HANSON 536/526 Series 5-Piece Straight-Flute Screw Extractor Set is designed for softer materials or thin-walled pieces, such as pipes and fittings. The design on these screw extractors eases extraction because it does not expand the material as it is removed. Each IRWIN screw extractor can remove both left-hand and right-hand threaded parts and has the size and recommended drill bit size etched onto it. From the Manufacturer 5-Piece Hanson Straight Screw Extractor Set, contains sizes ST-1-through ST-5, for removing broken screws, studs, and bolts. The straight tapered flute will not expand the piece being removed, but removes the broken piece without damage to threads. The correct drill size is stamped on each screw extractor. Irwin tools are made of only the finest materials, manufactured to exacting tolerances.

The quality of these is about as good as it gets nowadays. They are made in USA and are just as good as any other reputable brand. Many people complain about them breaking too easily, it’s not the tools fault. You don’t just hammer them into a hole and put a long pipe on a wrench and pull as hard as you can until something gives way.Make make sure you drill the appropriate sized hole and use the corresponding extractor. Penetrating fluid and/or heat also helps if you are able to safely use it. A standard size tap handle or adjustable wrench is all you need. Firm steady pressure is what keeps it from snapping off.Had a 1/4" NPT pipe broken off flush. My left-hand screw-type extractors, while excellent for broken bolts, kept expanding the pipe and locking it in harder and harder. Was afraid I'd have to drill and re-tap, leaving shavings to flush out. A friend suggested using a straight-extractor instead, and these worked perfectly. If Irwin is listening, what would be awesome would be a set of 4-point sockets in 1/4 and 3/8 drive to match the heads of these extractors. There are times -- like my recent experience --- when there's no room to swing a regular open-end wrench at a right angle -- I had to twist my long-nose vise-grips out of alignment to get the job done. But the extractor worked perfectly.Worked for me getting a broken bolt out of my lawnmower. It is important to center the drill when drilling the broken bolt. An automatic counterpunch helps to do this.Very well made!To remove the remnants of a sheared male pipe thread on my Jeep Wrangler, I needed a straight-fluted "Easy-Out" screw extractor. This set was exactly what I needed & removed the male pipe thread on the brass elbow in the Jeep's block with ease. Set will come in handy on future tasks that come up.Got that tooth outI rounded all the splines off, and snapped of 3.Contacted irwin they said these are only for pipes/and fittings and not for steel/ normal/ hard materials. Ambiguous title at best. Be sure to read the description and done use in any real metals.Had a spark plug break off the nut in the engine block . Hammered that sucker in as hard as I could put a breaker bar on that bad Larry and gave it a twist and violaas this is the same manufacturer that makes Vice grips i thought that they would be very good quality, after using the smallest extractor which wont be the strongest i understand this, it flexed and twisted which is a sign of not properly strengthened as if it were properly strengthen then it wouldn't twist so much it would just snap maybe giving a slight twist. the force that i was using wasn't great and i have seen better from cheaper in the past as a motor mechanic. disappointed as it was a cylinder head bolt on a motor bike. new head time for me i think.JUST AS DESCRIBED MANY THANKSI used this set to extract a 17mm bolt stuck on my engine block after the head snapped off. Had to blind drill the hole to pop this extractor in. The recommended bit size was also much larger than the tip of the tool so it started biting only after 1/4 of the total length. My guess is they don't want you to snap the thing off in the hole. It came out pretty banged up, the metal is pretty soft. Still cheaper than to have a shop do the work so I'm happy. Doubt these are intended for professional use.Para casos difíciles de daño a cuerdas metálicas de sujeción. Muy útil para abatir daños casi irreparables. Lo recomiendo ampliamente para casos de problemas domésticos.
